welcome to kairos los angeles, a network of neighborhood churches bringing more of heaven to earth. take a look at how we attempt to follow Jesus,
by worshipping our God, transforming in community, and serving our neighbors.

Just as there are many different types of music--big band, rock, punk, jazz, rap, and pop-there are also different compositions that communities can have to effectively accomplish their mission. Jesus didn't say, "I came to give you more 'meetings,' but I came to give you more 'life.'"

So when it comes to the structure of Kairos, we believe that the job of the leaders is to create a structure in which good things can run wild. We believe that the majority of the good things that happen occur in everyday life, not just special meetings. Many church structures have an addiction to meetings in the sense that everything revolves around formal get-togethers. We certainly value meeting together, but only so that we can encourage each other to live out our calling in the real world, not simply inside the walls of a church.

Once a week, our canvas groups gather together to worship God as a community. These are times in which we sing, dance, learn, dialogue and grow as people. These times are meant to nourish our faith so we can live life fully. Our desire is to multiply hundreds of neighborhood churches in this city and the world.
There are a number of ways to get involved in community. At Kairos we have a variety of gatherings that are designed for people to help each other become more whole and bring the beauty of God into our world. Many of these gatherings have both formal and informal elements to them.

Our most basic structure is what we call canvas groups. Canvas groups are a group of 20 - 30 people who do the journey of life together. Canvas groups are based on four practices that happen at different times in a given quarter, instead of predictable weekly meetings that tend to become monotonous. Authentic worship, time for soul connection with others, faith ventures and creative expression are the core of our canvas groups. The structure of a canvas group allows people to live a life of authentic worship in our every day world.

A servant is someone who has begun to get a grasp on their calling in life and are beginning to learn the joy of giving, serving and dying to self. These are people who know God, walk with God and live for the expansion and deepening of the kingdom of God.

Get involved! There are many diverse areas of involvement here at Kairos... reaching from public speaking to behind-the-scenes work, from technical to creative arts, from administration to public relations. See what may fit you best.

One of the greatest ways we can engage in the community of faith is through the giving of ourselves: our time, our talents and our treasures. Giving is a spiritual discipline as well as a spiritual gift. We are all called to be generous.

As a new community of faith, we are relying on God to work through a wide variety of people to give us the resources we need to carry out this mission. We have included a graph of our expenses and will be giving frequent updates of our financial state for the current month, as well as the current year.

Please pray for us and be a generous giver. Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give, than to receive." Have you experienced the truth of that statement?
